Farm Worker on Bike Is Struck, Killed by SUV

A 19-year-old farm laborer was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle when he rode his bicycle into traffic, authorities said Saturday.
Mario Lopez of Oxnard died shortly before 5 p.m. Friday after colliding with the SUV on Rice Avenue near Wooley Road, authorities said. Lopez, who was riding home from work, had been pedaling down a dirt farm road when he turned onto Rice.
Lopez’s father also works in the area and came upon the scene, authorities said. The SUV driver was not cited.
