Los Alamos Lab Faulted for Plutonium Exposure

Twelve workers at Los Alamos National Laboratory were exposed to plutonium in February 2001 after members of the research team failed to follow rules for handling the dangerous material, the Energy Department said.
A department review also cited “significant safety shortcomings at the time” and criticized the lab’s own study of the incident as incomplete.
Four of the 12 workers who were exposed are still undergoing tests.
