Global events as art in Venice

Trying to bring art closer to reality, this year’s Venice Biennale will take a look at conflicts and crises around the globe.
The exhibition, one of the world’s most prestigious cultural events, will feature several hundred works from 64 countries, all on the theme of “dreams and conflicts.”
“It is impossible to organize an art exhibition as if it were in a bubble,” Francesco Bonami, the Biennale’s director, told reporters in Rome on Monday. “The entire experience must be linked to the world, even if in a slightly abstract artistic way.”
The show, staged every other year, is scheduled to open June 15 and run until Nov. 2.
