L.A.’s Monkey Business

Re “L.A. Ponies Up Funds for Golden Monkeys,” March 20: I was appalled to learn that the L.A. City Council has come up with $100,000 a year for 10 years to pay for some Chinese monkeys. How is it that the council can’t find money to pay for anything else, but yet $1 million is found?
I hope these lucky monkeys appreciate their room and board during their stay. There are families with no roof over their heads and no food on their tables!
