Tens of Thousands Protest War on Iraq
From Times wire reports
Tens of thousands of people from Afghanistan to Australia protested the war on Iraq.
In Lahore, Pakistan, more than 50,000 gathered for a “million-man march†that fell short of expectations. Thousands also demonstrated in mainly Muslim Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
In Australia, up to 30,000 people chanting, “No war, no war,†stopped traffic in Sydney. In Canberra, about 5,000 gathered in front of parliament to scatter flower petals in the shape of giant peace signs.
