The Joy of Pets
If Carole Wade (letter, June 19) doesn’t like the idea of animal companions, that’s her business. Maybe she has never known the love and joy an animal can bring into an ordinary human life. But what chutzpah, admonishing the rest of us to seek human companionship for our “loneliness” instead of seeking “entertainment” from pet ownership! Who says we’re all “lonely” or seek “entertainment”? Who says we all need more human “companionship?” Give me a cat or a dog over one of those self-righteous, anti-animal-companion people any day.
