Ducks Are Proving to Be Quite the Draw in L.A.

The Mighty Ducks’ victory over the New Jersey Devils in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals Saturday night on ABC drew a 7.3 rating with a 10 share of the audience in Los Angeles.

No other market got a higher rating. Detroit was second with a rating/share of 6.1/11, and New York third with a 5.6/9.

The national overnight rating, derived from the nation’s 55 largest markets, was a 3.2/6.

Game 5 Thursday night drew a national rating of 2.7, with L.A. getting a 6.0, Detroit a 6.7 and New York a 6.1.

Saturday’s Belmont Stakes coverage on NBC got an 8.4 rating with a 21 share in L.A. and a 15.6/28 in New York. New York had the 10th-highest rating, L.A. the 51st.

The national overnight for the Belmont was a 10.4/24. The 10.4 is the highest overnight rating for any horse race since the 1990 Kentucky Derby earned an 11.3/29 on ABC for Unbridled’s win. Last year’s Belmont, in which War Emblem failed to win the triple crown, drew overnight numbers of 9.2/21.
