Mellgren’s Late Goal Lifts Breakers

Dagny Mellgren scored in the 83rd minute and Karina LeBlanc earned her first shutout of the season as the Boston Breakers beat San Jose, 1-0, on Saturday in front of 8,168 at Boston.
Maren Meinert set up the goal for the Breakers (4-3-2), passing to Mellgren between two defenders. Mellgren dribbled around goalkeeper LaKeysia Beene and put the ball into the open net.
The CyberRays fell to 4-4-0.

Philadelphia 2, Carolina 2 -- Danielle Fotopoulos scored in the 84th minute as the visiting Courage (1-5-1) rallied to tie the Charge (1-5-1) in front of 4,180 at Villanova, Pa.
