From Times Wire Reports
Myanmar’s military government took Nobel Peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi into “protective custody” after four people died and 50 were hurt in a clash between her supporters and thousands of pro-junta protesters in Yaway Oo, about 400 miles north of the capital, Yangon.
The military said she was unharmed. It said it had closed her party’s headquarters and rounded up key party members “for their own security.”
It was unclear whether Suu Kyi had agreed to be held. She was freed last year after 19 months of house arrest.
