Four paintings by Impressionist Mary Cassatt will be featured on a set of 37-cent postage stamps to be issued Aug. 7
Cassatt, the only American invited to exhibit with the French Impressionists, is famed for her touching portraits of mothers and children.
Paintings featured are “Young Mother” (1888) and “On a Balcony” (1878-79), which are at the Art Institute of Chicago, and “Children Playing on the Beach” (1884) and “Child in a Straw Hat” (circa 1886), which are at the National Gallery of Art, Washington.
