1,300 Pounds of Pot Seized on Boat, 4 Held
Federal authorities found more than 1,300 pounds of marijuana hidden in a small pleasure boat docked in Mission Bay, the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection said Monday. Four men were arrested.
The 21-foot Bayliner, registered in California, and its three occupants were tracked after being detected by a radar-equipped patrol boat about 9 a.m. Sunday, bureau spokesman Vince Bond said in a statement.
Two men in a Chevrolet Suburban met the boat and loaded it onto a boat trailer, he said. Border Patrol agents detained all five men, but one of the boat’s occupants managed to get away.
