Banner to lead ‘World News’

ABC News on Monday named Jon Banner, 35, as executive producer of its flagship “World News Tonight with Peter Jennings,” replacing Paul Slavin, who was earlier promoted to a management job.
Banner started at ABC News in 1989 as a lowly desk assistant on the program but eventually worked his way up to the show’s second in command before taking his current job as executive producer of the Sunday-morning “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” in 2002.
