Threatened Two Ways

We found pry marks on our security screens, showing that someone had tried to break in and been scared off by the alarm. How did we know to go around checking the screens? Because when we came home we found a citation on our door from LAPD officers stating that they had responded to a “false alarm” at our house and threatening us with dire consequences if it happened again. If this is the best they can do, who needs them?
