A man who pretended to be a physician and was known as Dr. Misterio on a Spanish-language radio program was sentenced to more than nine years in prison Friday for sexually assaulting teenage girls and adult women who sought treatment from him at his El Monte office.
Fernando Lozano, 32, pleaded guilty in Pomona Superior Court to committing lewd acts on a child under 15, sexual penetration by fraud, sexual battery and practicing medicine without a license, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Michele Hanisee.
The charges involved six victims, from 15 to 31 years old, who heard about him through Renan Alendarez Coello’s nationally syndicated radio program on KSCA, prosecutors said. Lozano, a Mexican national, will be deported after he finishes his sentence, Hanisee said.
