Ekene Ibekwe, Carson: Scored 13 points for the No. 10 Colts in a 47-38 upset of nationally ranked Bakersfield Garces. Carson held 7-foot center Robert Swift to 13 points.
Sean McDonough, La Habra: Scored 24 points in an 83-73 overtime victory over Buena Park in a Freeway League game.
Fred Washington, Torrance Bishop Montgomery: Scored 21 points for the No. 4 Knights, who defeated No. 18 Lakewood Mayfair, 56-52, in a nonleague game.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Sophia Lenard, Carson: Scored 30 points in a 66-45 victory over L.A. Garfield in the championship game of the L.A. Fairfax tournament.
Eva Hernandez, L.A. Roosevelt: Had 16 points and six steals in a 54-38 victory over L.A. Fairfax for third place in the Fairfax tournament.
Lauren Pedersen, Brea Olinda: Had eight assists, five steals and three blocks for the No. 12 Wildcats, who defeated No. 14 Santa Ana Mater Dei, 56-36, in a nonleague game.
Dominique Burke, Chino Hills Ayala: Scored 14 points for the No. 16 Bulldogs, who defeated No. 20 Pasadena Muir, 39-33, in a nonleague game.
Jessica Hopkins, Bell Gardens: Scored 28 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, and had seven steals in a 55-53 nonleague victory over Westminster.
Julia Peterson, Santa Margarita: Scored the final four points, including the game-winning basket with seven seconds left, for the No. 15 Eagles in a 40-38 nonleague victory over Orange Lutheran.
GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Linda Calvert, Temple City: Scored four goals in a 7-6 victory over Pico Rivera El Rancho in the championship game of the Anaheim Western tournament.
