Deltagen Cuts Jobs, Development Unit

Deltagen Inc. said it reduced its workforce to about 200 people as the biotechnology company discontinues its drug-development business and divests two subsidiaries to save money.
Deltagen will sell or shut down its units in Salt Lake City and Strasbourg, France, it said. The Redwood City, Calif.-based company will try to generate more cash by marketing tools and services that help pharmaceutical companies discover and develop medicines, it said.
