A military court upheld a death sentence against a Jordanian American accused of conspiring to carry out poison gas attacks on U.S. and Israeli targets in Jordan during the 2000 millennium celebrations.

The ruling came two months after an appeals court ordered a retrial, saying military judges had insufficient evidence to convict Raed Hijazi last February.

Hijazi, 33, who was born in San Jose and carries Jordanian and U.S. passports, pleaded not guilty to seven charges, including conspiracy and possessing arms.
