Musgrave Hiring Not Likely

The possibility of hiring Bill Musgrave as UCLA offensive coordinator is becoming more remote each day and Coach Karl Dorrell will interview others for the position, sources said Friday. Dorrell met Monday with Musgrave, the Virginia offensive coordinator, but no agreement could be reached as the week went on.
Musgrave, 35, has been courted by new Kentucky Coach Rich Brooks, who was Musgrave’s coach at Oregon in the late 1980s.
Kentucky also is considering former UCLA coach Bob Toledo, who served as Brooks’ offensive coordinator at Oregon. Sources in Virginia said it is unlikely that Musgrave, considered one of the brightest young offensive minds in football, will leave his current position for anything less than a head coaching job.
