Teacher Credentialing Program Will Expand
School Supt. Roy Romer on Wednesday announced the expansion of a program that helps career changers and new college graduates become fully credentialed teachers within three years while they are working in schools.
This year, 1,000 teachers are enrolled in the district intern program, which allows people to earn their credential tuition-free while teaching with the help of a mentor. Romer said the program will expand to 1,800 slots for the upcoming school year.
An informational meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in L.A.
