Band aid for Bali victim
Every time he closes his eyes, Steven “Crabbie†Cabler, the only American to survive the Bali bombing in October, relives the devastation he witnessed. After Saturday’s Punk Rock for Recovery benefit at the Grove in Anaheim, the singer from the band El Centro can sleep easier. Pennywise, U.S. Bombs, D.I., Shattered Faith, the Line and Unit F, along with Surfers 4 Peace, Volcom Clothing and Finger Records, came through for the Newport Beach resident, who now can pay his medical bills. Saturday’s love-in was a testament to the tight-knit punk community.... Music fans will love tonight’s SideOneDummy bash at King King on Hollywood Boulevard. The hot indie record label is hosting this new, free bimonthly Thursday rockfest, and tonight’s lineup includes local acts Maxeen, Critter Jones and Sign of the Fox.
Interpol on tap
Bumped into Spaceland/Echo talent buyer Jennifer Tefft, who tells me she and partner Mitchell Fink are now booking the Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. The first show not to miss at the HFT is Interpol’s performances Tuesday and Wednesday.
