Help-Wanted Ads Increase in November
Help-wanted advertising rose in November, indicating the U.S. labor market is returning to life, according to a Conference Board report.
The private research group’s help-wanted ad index, a barometer of the U.S. employment situation, rose to 39 last month from 37 in October. A year ago, it stood at 40.
In the last three months, help-wanted advertising rose in seven of the nine U.S. regions, with the strongest increases in New England. Declines occurred in the Mountain and South Atlantic regions. Despite spots of weakness, economists were encouraged by the data.
