Driver, 72, Dies When His Van Veers, Hits Tree

An Oxnard man died Tuesday when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree.
Arturo Mendoza, 72, was driving on Statham Boulevard north of Channel Islands Boulevard about 10 a.m. when his van veered off the road, officials said.
Investigators are not sure what caused the accident. An autopsy is to be conducted today.
