Fire Destroys ‘Pack-Rat’ House Used for Storage
A fire Monday morning destroyed a vacant Mission Hills house that was damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake and since had been used for storage.
“It was like a pack-rat condition,†Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said. “There were things stacked floor to ceiling that most people would consider trash, and it made it very difficult to enter the house.â€
The fire, in the 15800 block of West San Fernando Mission Boulevard, was extinguished in half an hour, Wells said. Damage was estimated at $100,000.
Arson investigators were trying to determine the cause of the fire. There were no injuries.
