Boy, 5, Shot on Buena Park Porch
A 5-year-old boy standing on his porch in Buena Park was shot through the hand Monday evening, the apparent accidental victim of a drive-by attack, authorities said.
“It appears that he will be OK,†Sgt. Richard Pena, a spokesman for the Buena Park Police Department, said. The boy’s name was not released.
The shooting, which police believe was gang-related, occurred about 8 p.m. in the 5800 block of Western Avenue.
“He was standing in the porch area with his sister,†Pena said. “They were shooting at someone else.
“Only one shot was fired; it appears that it went through his hand, through the door and into the house.
“No one else was hurt.â€
The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment.
