Captive Children at Guantanamo
Re “Juveniles Are Among Cuba War Detainees,†April 23: How can we possibly set the example for democracy when we hold children prisoners as “enemy combatants� Not even as prisoners of war, with legal rights under national and international law, but illegally under a category that is recognized by no one but George W. Bush & Co. Does this mean that our children are at risk of being held as “enemy combatants†by other countries? I find America as envisioned by the Bush administration a country I no longer recognize, and certainly no longer a credible democracy.
