Bill Adds to Problem of Frivolous Litigation
When Gov. Gray Davis signed Senate Bill 688, he told California that it would benefit the victims of Sept. 11. But he neglected to mention that the bill was designed to extend the length of response time to summary judgments, making it impossible to speed up the dismissal of frivolous lawsuits. Courts are already clogged with frivolous litigation, and Davis and the trial lawyers who supported him made a bad situation worse. This is another example of shameless efforts to profit off 9/11.
