Woodbridge Invitational
When: Saturday
Where: Woodbridge High
What: More than 6,500 runners from four states will compete in the nation’s third largest high school cross-country meet. The Division I boys’ competition will include Long Beach Poly, No. 3 in The Times’ rankings, No. 4 Riverside Rubidoux, No. 6 Simi Valley Royal and No. 7 Murrieta Valley. The Division I girls’ race will include No. 4 Murrieta Valley, No. 5 Chino Hills Ayala, No. 6 Royal, No. 7 Rolling Hills Estates Peninsula and No. 10 Long Beach Wilson.

Dave Mohs Tournament
When: Today, Saturday, Monday
Where: Huntington Beach Edison, Newport Harbor, Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach Marina highs
What: Participating teams among those ranked by The Times are No. 3 Marymount, No. 4 Los Alamitos, No. 5 Anaheim Esperanza, No. 6 Newport Harbor, No. 7 Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley, No. 9 Santa Ana Mater Dei and No. 10 Torrance Bishop Montgomery. The championship match will be held Monday night at Edison High.
Boys’ Water Polo
Riverside Poly Tournament
When: Today and Saturday
Where: Bobby Bonds Sports Complex, Riverside
What: Defending Southern Section Division V champion Riverside Poly, No. 9 in The Times’ rankings, has one of the region’s better returning players in Mike Looy, a sixth-team All-American and the team’s second-leading scorer last season. Also scheduled to compete are Santa Maria Righetti and Whittier La Serna.
Girls’ Golf
San Marcos Invitational
When: Saturday
Where: La Purisima Golf Course, Lompoc
What: Defending champion Goleta Dos Pueblos, ranked No. 8 by The Times, and No. 4 Camarillo are among the favorites. Santa Margarita, which won the inaugural event in 1999, is also in the field. The tournament is a two-player scramble designed to give players a break from regular stroke play.
