Baptist Foundation Charges Thrown Out

A Phoenix judge threw out criminal indictments against three former officials of the Baptist Foundation of Arizona, saying the grand jury that indicted them had been shown prejudicial evidence.
The criminal indictments stem from charges in connection with the 1999 bankruptcy filing of the foundation, which cost thousands of investors as much as $570 million. In May, accounting firm Arthur Andersen agreed to pay $217 million to settle a series of suits related to its audits of the foundation.
