One Suspect Named in Abduction and Killing
Police have named a suspect in the kidnapping and killing of a man who was found last week dead in the trunk of a car parked in Compton, authorities said.
Long Beach Police Sgt. Paul LeBaron said Jeremy Jones, 30, of North Long Beach is the prime suspect in the abduction and killing of Erick Leonel Martinez, 30, of Bellflower. Martinez’s body was found Aug. 29 in the trunk of a car parked in the 1500 block of South Chester Street.
Police said Martinez and a friend had met at a Long Beach residence with two or three other men who attacked them and tied them up. Martinez’s friend escaped and called police. Only Jones has been identified in the case.
