West Coast debut of ‘Grill’
“The Spitfire Grill†is about a female ex-con’s search for balm in Gilead--the biblical name of the tiny Wisconsin town in which the musical is set. Composer James Valcq and his lyricist partner, the late Fred Alley, based the show on a 1996 film in which a rootless heroine hires on at the only eatery in town and faces suspicious locals. This is the West Coast premiere.
