“Matsuri! Japanese Festival Arts,� an exhibition of elaborate Japanese textiles, dress and artifacts, introduces museum goers to the Shinto and Buddhist festivals known as matsuri. More than 250 richly decorated festival garments and other works of art, including sculptures, screens, shrine adornments, prints and banners, will be on display at UCLA’s Fowler Museum beginning Sunday. In addition, the exhibition will feature a free family festival from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday with performances by the UCLA Kyodo Taiko group, Fugima Kansuma Kai theater group and Bando Hidesomi’s Nihon Buyo youth dance group, workshops on calligraphy and chimes, and gallery tours.

You’d expect that growing up in San Antonio, Pat Green would have soaked up the sounds of Bob Wills as well as the border music of Flaco Jimenez. What you might not expect is that this esteemed singer and songwriter is also a devotee of Broadway musicals and Bach. You’ll strain to find any echoes of “My Fair Lady� in his major-label debut album, “Three Days,� but it’s easy to hear his skilled and insightful way with lyrics.

Opera Buffs Inc. presents its fall performers showcase, introducing sopranos Joohee Choi and Ciera Lamborn, mezzo-soprano Nazani Ashjian, tenor Jesus Leon, and baritone In Joon Jang. The young singers will present operatic selections by Adam, Bellini, Bizet, Donizetti, Ravel, Tchaikovsky, Verdi and Weber.
