Re “Bird Deaths by Power Lines to Be Studied,” May 23: You’ve got to be kidding me! A $1-million grant to study bird deaths by power lines? After all the money that has been flushed down the toilet in the wake of the power crisis, couldn’t a better use for this money have been found?
Please print the results of this study in The Times so that we can all see what we got for this money. This $1-million study will probably result in a $100-million proposal to station people with bullhorns next to the power wires in an effort to shoo the birds away.
How else can the state government waste taxpayers’ money? Don’t ask, the list is too long!
