You can become a member of the upper class this summer, albeit only for the length of a flight from LAX to London. There’s a summer sale on Virgin Atlantic’s “upper class” service, so you can see how the other half lives for about half of what the other half usually pays. Round-trip tickets usually cost about $9,000. If you purchase by Aug. 15 this year, the fare is $3,999 (excluding taxes and other fees). For this, you get a knit sleep suit you can keep, a seat that reclines nearly horizontal, the services of a “beauty therapist” (massage and manicure) and a menu with a wide variety of choices.
