Battles Rage Along India-Pakistan Border

Indian and Pakistani troops, massed on the border since mid-December, exchanged heavy fire for the second straight day in the disputed Kashmir region, an Indian defense official said.
The fighting came ahead of a meeting in New Delhi today of the Cabinet Committee on Security, which is to discuss security measures in Kashmir after a deadly attack this week on an army camp near Jammu, the winter capital of India’s Jammu and Kashmir state. India blames the attack on Pakistan-based Kashmiri separatists.
