Ex-Yugoslav General Pleads Not Guilty

Retired Yugoslav army Gen. Mile Mrksic pleaded not guilty to charges that his troops executed at least 200 Croatian hospital patients in 1991 in the city of Vukovar during the Croatian war.
Mrksic surrendered to the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague on Wednesday.
He pleaded not guilty to all six counts in his indictment, which includes crimes against humanity and grave breaches of the customs of war.
If found guilty, Mrksic could be sentenced to life imprisonment.
