Two people, one of them a 16-year-old boy and the other a 41-year-old man, were shot to death in apparently unrelated incidents on the streets of Compton, authorities said Tuesday.
Denis Gibbs, 41, was felled by a single gunshot about 10 p.m. Monday as he stood at a pay phone at Wilmington Avenue and 133rd Street, authorities said.
A few hours earlier, a 16-year-old boy on a bicycle in the 1900 block of Slater Avenue was fatally shot by another bicyclist. Authorities said the shooter was between 16 and 18, and that the shooting probably was gang-related.
The boy’s name was withheld pending notification of his family.
