Alan P. Horowitz, 72; Producer of Movies and Television Series

Alan P. Horowitz, 72, a producer involved with such motion pictures as “The Longest Yard” and such TV series as “CHiPs,” died May 6 of complications from a fall at his Los Angeles home, his publicist said Monday.

Educated at Colgate University, Horowitz served in the Marines before beginning his 35-year Hollywood career. He was associated with more than 20 films, including “Heaven Can Wait” and “The Godfather.”

Horowitz was an executive with several television companies, and worked on 15 series, including “Buffalo Soldiers” and the popular show about the California Highway Patrol.

Television movies became his emphasis in later years. Horowitz served as associate producer of such shows as “Revenge for a Rape” in 1976 and the “Bandit” series in 1994.
