From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Gov. Gray Davis has allocated $9.2 million from Proposition 40 funds for restoration of the Crystal Cove State Park Historic District.
Proposition 40 provides a total of $2.6 billion to help protect California’s air, land and water for future generations. The state Department of Parks and Recreation is to receive $225 million of that.
Activists had secured about half of the $10 million to $12 million needed to transform Crystal Cove’s dilapidated beachfront cottages into lodges. Funds from the bond measure should cover the rest.
