The annual Muckenthaler Cultural Center Concours d’Elegance in Fullerton doesn’t draw the crowds of a Pebble Beach or a Torrey Pines show, but for a lot of car buffs that makes it all the better: You can see the vehicles.
About 150 of them will be gleaming on the center’s landscaped grounds Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
What began eight years ago as a simple Sunday car show now is the final act in a week of events dubbed the Muckenthaler Motor Car Festival.
There are 15 categories of entrants vying for trophies, including pre-1980 Chevrolet Corvettes and Ford Thunderbirds of all eras. Also included are pre-1980 Porsches, pre-1925 horseless carriages, European sports cars and American classics from 1925 to 1980.
Special classes for stylish woodies and wildly inventive American hot rods and custom cars draw raves even from spectators who don’t know a carburetor from a hubcap.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and children 12 and younger.
The center is at 1201 W. Malvern Ave. For information, call (714) 780-8382 or go to www.themuck.com.
