Ahead of Its Time

I consider myself one of the lucky few who did see the original “Merrily We Roll Along” by Stephen Sondheim when I was living in New York in the early ‘80s (“Putting Him Together,” by Patrick Pacheco, April 28).
I thought the critics were harsh, since it had some of the most enduring lyrics ever and, of course, the complex Sondheim music. Times have changed since 1981 and the musical may fit the current mood better. I hope the Ahmanson director takes notice and brings this overlooked musical to Los Angeles.
