Harvard-Westlake Edges Hoover in Boys’ Tennis

Harvard-Westlake High senior Jesse Ferlianto defeated Glendale Hoover’s Samuel Tadevosian, 6-2, to forge a 9-9 tie and clinch a victory on games, 79-62, for the Wolverines in a nonleague boys’ tennis match Wednesday at Studio City Golf and Tennis.
The victory over Tadevosian was the only one of the day for Ferlianto, the Wolverines’ No. 1 singles player who has missed several matches recently because of a strained left hamstring and sore groin.
Hoover’s Dylan Kim and Sergy Vargramian swept at Nos. 1 and 3 singles, respectively, for the Tornadoes (18-1), ranked No. 5 by The Times. Fourth-ranked Harvard-Westlake (20-1), though, built an early lead by sweeping the first six doubles sets, five at 6-0.
