Ex-Priest Accused of Abusing Son of Alleged Earlier Victim
AKRON, Ohio — A former Roman Catholic priest, who has been spotlighted by the national media for pedophilia, is under investigation for allegedly sexually abusing the 6-year-old son of a man he allegedly molested more than 20 years ago, Summit County authorities said Saturday.
The 41-year-old father, who grew up in Cleveland but lives in Michigan, said that ex-priest Neil Conway molested his son repeatedly last year on a farm inherited by the former cleric, said Capt. Larry Momchilov of the Summit County Sheriff’s Department.
No charges have been filed against Conway pending an investigation of the new allegations, said Momchilov, who declined to comment further.
Conway could not be reached for comment.
The Saturday edition of Cleveland’s Plain Dealer reported that Conway, now 65, has admitted molesting eight boys during his 22 years in the priesthood but told Newsweek magazine and the “Nightline†news show that he had conquered his pedophilia.
The unidentified Michigan man said he forgave Conway years ago, the newspaper said. He said he had even asked Conway to be his son’s godfather.
