Don’t Trash Dodgers: They’re Tied for First

Before the baseball season has even begun, the Dodgers have already lost the pennant. Those two esteemed, knowledgeable experts, Bill Plaschke and T.J. Simers, have proclaimed that the year is over for Jim Tracy and company.
Boy, it was great while it lasted.

After reading about Omar Daal’s trade demand, it seems as if the Dodgers have found a replacement for Gary Sheffield.

In reading the Dodger notes recently about Eric Gagne’s proposed move to the bullpen, I noticed Scott Boras was quoted as saying, “If Eric’s role is anything other than a starting pitcher, that’s certainly not something that was communicated to Eric and myself.”
Since when must a major league team communicate its plans to an agent? It didn’t seem to bother Gagne, because he seems to want to contribute to a winning team any way he can.
Seems to me, since Kevin Malone is no longer around to be taken advantage of, Scott Boras feels left out. Good!

I read that Dante Bichette prayed for guidance before announcing his retirement. While it is sad to see Dante retire, I say if God really is a Dodger (and how else do you explain the sky being blue and white?), he’ll have a similar conversation with Chad Kreuter, Tom Goodwin and Marquis Grissom before opening day.
