Cheney’s Secret Service Agents Involved in Fight
An off-duty U.S. Secret Service agent in town to protect Vice President Dick Cheney bit off part of a man’s ear during a brawl outside a bar last month, authorities said Friday.
The fight, involving four agents, occurred Feb. 18, said Sgt. Rob Morse of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Zachary Elson was treated at a local hospital after losing the tip of his right ear, and members of the Secret Service detail “took some good lumps,†Morse said.
No one was arrested and no charges have been filed.
Investigators are trying to determine what triggered the 2 a.m. fight in Encinitas, about 18 miles north of San Diego.
