Couple Suspected of Shackling Daughter, 21
A Fullerton couple were arrested for allegedly shackling their 21-year-old daughter to a bed for dating a married man, police said Monday.
Giovana Mata called authorities Sunday after her father allegedly began hitting her with his fist, police said. When officers arrived at the apartment, they found the woman shackled to a bed with 30-pound chains padlocked around her arms and ankles.
David Mata, 53, and Guadalupe Mata, 51, were being held at Fullerton City Jail on suspicion of conspiracy of false imprisonment, criminal threats and assault and battery, authorities said.
