Update--The Avengers are hoping to catch the Cobras at a good time, for the first time. In the two previous meetings (2000 and 2001), Los Angeles has been outscored, 120-78. This time Carolina, although tied for first in the Southern Division with Georgia and Orlando, comes here on a three-game losing streak. The Cobras have used three quarterbacks this season: Connell Maynor has been released, and both John Fitzgerald and Aaron Sparrow could play tonight. The Avengers, third in the Pacific Division, have lost their last two games at home. It will help if offensive specialist Chris Jackson, who sat out last week’s 68-61 victory at Grand Rapids because of a sore hamstring, is fit to play. Jackson and Greg Hopkins form one of the league’s best receiving tandems.
