Man Is Convicted of Murdering Student, 22

A Los Angeles man was convicted Friday of murdering a 22-year-old Occidental College student during an attempted robbery in October 2000.
Demetrio Cabrera, 33, faces a sentence of life in state prison without the possibility of parole and is scheduled to return to court June 25. Cabrera’s co-defendant, Araceli Pena, was convicted in March and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.
Wendy Soltero was fatally shot in her car in Hollywood on Oct. 28, 2000.
