Two Convicted in Drive-By Shooting Death
Two people were convicted Monday of second-degree murder for a drive-by shooting that left a Santa Ana woman dead.
Authorities said defendants Carlos Sanchez, 18, and Jorge Martinez, 26, were trying to kill the woman’s grandson when they fired on a family cookout in April 2000. Instead, they hit 67-year-old Adela Rios.
The defendants could face 25 years to life in prison when they return to court for sentencing Aug. 9.
