Sorenstam Keeping Her Word
Annika Sorenstam shot a seven-under-par 65 Friday to take a four-shot lead after three rounds of the LPGA Evian Masters at Evian-Les-Bains, France.
Sorenstam has a three-round total of 16-under 200, four shots ahead of Mi Hyun Kim, who had a 68 for a 12-under 204, and five strokes better than Cristie Kerr (67), Leta Lindley (70) and Se Ri Pak (70) at 205.
Vicki Goetz-Ackerman shot a 67 to move into sixth place at 206. Second-round leader Karin Icher had a 73 and slipped to seventh place at 207.
Earlier in the week, Sorenstam predicted she would shoot lower scores each day. With rounds of 68-67-65 she is making good on her promise.
“I’m on track, right?” Sorenstam said. “The 65 today just makes it that bit tougher to keep right on tomorrow.”

Jay Sigel shot an eight-under-par 64, his best round this year, and held a two-stroke lead after the opening round of the BellSouth Senior Classic at Nashville.
Sigel took advantage of the wide fairways and soft greens at the Springhouse Golf Club to record six birdies and an eagle in a bogey-free round.
Dana Quigley and Walter Hall shot 66s, and 71-year-old Miller Barber bettered his age for the third time in his career with a 67. He is tied with six others, including Lee Trevino and Fuzzy Zoeller.
Sigel, who tied for 57th last week in the Senior PGA Championship at Akron, Ohio, used his putter to turn in a round that was four strokes lower than anything he had shot this year. It was his lowest round since a 63 at the SBC Senior Open last July.
