INS Worker Indicted on Bribery Charges

A veteran Immigration and Naturalization Service employee was indicted Friday on charges of bribery and selling immigration documents.
Maria Chica, 52, an INS information officer in Los Angeles, was caught after a five-month undercover FBI investigation, authorities said.
Chica was accused of stealing 22 permanent resident cards that were supposed to be destroyed and selling them to an FBI informant for $3,500.
The 22-year INS veteran faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison if convicted.
